Introduction
Positive, unsolicited feedback from women experiencing long‑term, debilitating symptoms—such as joint pain, bloating, and insomnia—is uncommon. As a newly credentialed SHAPE ReClaimed practitioner with no prior clinical experience using the program, I entered this evaluation without preconceived expectations regarding outcomes. To assess the program’s impact, a pilot study was conducted involving 12 women with self‑reported toxicity‑related symptoms. Participants had a mean age of 51 years and an average baseline weight of 193 pounds.
Pilot Study Results
Symptom Reduction and Weight Loss (Month 1)
Quantitative data were collected using a 20‑question, patient‑reported symptom questionnaire administered at baseline and again after one month. Results demonstrated a 41.7% reduction in overall symptom burden among 9 of the 12 participants.
During the first month, weight loss ranged from 4.0 to 14.2 pounds, with an average loss of 8.4 pounds. Weekly weight loss was greatest during the first week (mean 4.5 pounds), followed by a stabilization phase of approximately 1–2 pounds per week, yielding an average weekly weight loss of 2.1 pounds. The most reported challenges were limited meal variety and time required for meal planning, particularly during travel.
Extension Phase Outcomes (Month 2)
Nine participants elected to continue beyond the initial one‑month pilot period. Among the six women who have completed two months of the program to date, weight loss ranged from 8.0 to 19.4 pounds (average loss was 11.1 pounds), corresponding to 1.4 pounds per week.
Notably, one participant completed lipid panel testing two months before and two months after initiating the SHAPE ReClaimed Program. Her total cholesterol decreased from 251 mg/dL to 205 mg/dL, and LDL cholesterol decreased from 169 mg/dL to 127 mg/dL, suggesting potential cardiometabolic benefits.
Summary and Conclusions
- The SHAPE ReClaimed Program demonstrated meaningful clinical improvement within one month, including a 41.7% reduction in self‑reported symptoms and clinically significant weight loss.
- Participants experienced rapid early weight loss followed by a sustainable weekly pattern, alongside improvements in energy, inflammation‑related symptoms, and overall quality of life.
- Weekly practitioner follow‑up appeared to support high engagement and adherence. Primary barriers were logistical, particularly related to meal planning time during travel.
- Extension data indicate continued benefits beyond the first month, including further weight loss and improvements in cardiometabolic markers.
- Collectively, these findings support the SHAPE ReClaimed Program as a promising, practitioner‑supported intervention for addressing inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, and weight‑related concerns in adults.
