Patient Information

Name: Jen L.
Age: 48
Gender: Female
Height: 5’7”
Weight: 234.2 lbs

Health History

Chief ComplaintHypothyroidism, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, loss of energy, loss of sleep, overall “well” feeling.

Other Symptoms: Lack of stamina, huge amounts of inflammation throughout her body and overall feeling of being too old before her time.

Medications/Supplements: Lisinopril for blood pressure, Simvastatin for cholesterol, and Levothyroxine for hypothyroidism. She does not take any supplements.

Medical Testing Results: Slightly elevated blood pressure upon starting, 135/85. She also tested very acidic with slight ketones in urinalysis.

Treatment

Length of time on the SHAPE Program: This is the part of the case study I love: Jen was introduced to the SHAPE Program in November 2017, when I first became a SHAPE practitioner. I knew she would do well on our program, but she had to “think” about it. Her start date was February 1, 2018.

Other: I have the InBody 270 in my office. Jen started out with a 45.1 percent total body fat, BMI was 34.7, body fat mass was 100.0 lbs. Her present-day percentage of total body fat is 28.2%, BMI is 26.2 and her body fat mass is a whopping 42.5 lbs!

Medications/Supplements: One of Jen’s main reasons for doing the SHAPE Program was to eliminate her medication. Her first appointment with her MD was right when she started to ask if it was okay for her to try. He said yes. Her next visit with him was four months later and it was spectacular!

Results

Jen is the kind of patient EVERYONE would love! She had to think about it and get her heart and her mind and her spirit in complete alignment. And when she was ready, she knocked it out of the park. How she looked at the program was, “If I’m going to do this, I’m going to give it my all!” She did. She wanted to astonish her MD. She did. He took her off her blood pressure meds and cholesterol meds. She feels fabulous. She has new relationship with food. I keep saying to my patients that this is not a diet. It is a Lifestyle Modification Plan! Choose wisely!

Overall, Jen dropped a total of 69.6 lbs. She measured 56.5 inches smaller.

Conclusion

I asked Jen if I may share this information with all of you. She said yes. To say she is a different person would not be true. She is Jen. One who is healthier, one who is more confident, one who is more free! This is the Jen I knew was in there all along. She just needed to be guided through our wonderful Lifestyle Modification Program. She continues to have a great relationship with food and with her new found health!

I LOVE the conclusion: Not a different person, but the same Jen. Just healthier and free!

What a great observation, Dr. Kulba. Too often, we want to “change” the person, but does true healing occur if we turn our patients away from their true self? Let’s all help them find themselves once again.

Doctors, look at your patients differently. Find out who they really are and treat them accordingly. Find their spirit and set it free!

This case history almost makes me want to come out of retirement (almost). I think I’ll just keep helping patients through all of you.

To each and every SHAPE practitioner, thank you for being a part of our family and please lean on me to lend a thought or idea when you run into challenging cases. I love to put the beautiful puzzle pieces of patients health back together to restore vibrant health!
