Female, age 13 – Still’s disease

13-year old female patient with Still’s disease, a type of juvenile idiopathic arthritis. Taking prednisone for two years and had experienced excessive amount of weight gain along with the classic moon face that occurs with the use of steroids.

My thinking: Because yellow fat is inflammatory, if I could help her reduce the excess weight gained from taking the steroid, I could potentially help with Still’s disease.

After two months on the SHAPE Program, she no longer has any joint pain whatsoever! She has no swelling and has completely come off prednisone. She has been drug-free ever since.
