Cabbage Lasagna

  • 1 pound green cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 2 cups marinara sauce divided
  • 2 cups Cottage cheese divided

Optional veggies

  • Spinach
  • Mushrooms
  • Green peppers

Italian Sausage Seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seed
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced onions
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add salt to pot once boiling. Cut the cabbage into quarters and cut the stem off and place into boiling water. Boil for 10 minutes or until outer leaves look translucent and tender. Drain and set aside to cool.
  • Cook ground beef in oil in a large skillet until browned completely. Add Italian sausage seasoning and 1 cup of marinara sauce, cottage cheese. Set aside.
  • Melt 1 cup cottage cheese for top layer. Set aside.
  • Assemble in an 8x8 casserole dish: layer from the bottom up. Sauce, cabbage, meat mix with cottage cheese, spinach, mushrooms, green peppers, sauce, cabbage, meat mix with cottage cheese, cabbage sauce.
  • Bake for 30 minutes at 350. Drain out the liquid and then I add melted cottage cheese to the top and baked for another 15 minutes.
