From time to time we will see posts on Facebook referring to SHAPE as a 500 calorie program. In an effort to stop this madness and misinformation, please accept the stance we are taking to bring clarity to this question and/or concern.
SHAPE IS NOT NOR HAS EVER RECOMMENDED 500 CALORIES PER DAY !!!
Yes, SHAPE was built out of the research done by Dr. ATW Simeons and yes, we do take our patients through three distinct phases that are similar to what Simeons outlined in his program. It is important to note all of Simeons patients were hospitalized and he used injectable hCG.
We do not believe eating a mere 500 calories per day is wise or safe and anyone with any degree of nutritional training will agree.
SHAPE does recommend reducing carbohydrate intake and eliminating grain, sugar and most dairy during the initial detox & cleanse phase of our program. We require UA monitoring while patients are following SHAPE’s Phase I: FasTrac in an effort to spot starvation markers.
All diets fail because the brain will receive a starvation signal causing one to consume more food. Let’s look at the Atkins diet. It can be profoundly effective for weight loss…until the patient stops the program and then all hades breaks loose and the patient starts to regain the weight they lost and then some. Atkins pushed the body into large ketosis…believing it was the fastest approach to rapid weight loss.
SHAPE practitioners are trained to recognize a spectrum of starvation indicators and will immediately alter the patient’s food intake to aid weight loss effectively without the patient going into any level of starvation. Each individual’s SHAPE journey is unique, as they are metabolically unique as well.
Reducing calories is not a new concept and it is obvious that we, as a nation, consume way more calories than we need to support normal body function or to repair and rebuild healthy cell regeneration. (See Maximum Lifespan by Roy Walford or The CR Way by McClothin & Averill.)
