Do I have to be monitored by a practitioner?

Yes.  SHAPE is a hands-on, practitioner monitored program.  We build the program based on individualized metabolic needs.  We utilize the results of a Diascreen 10 urinalysis, evaluating 10 diagnostic markers. Your practitioner is trained to read this diagnostic information and will adjust your program to your unique metabolic needs.

How long will a bottle of SHAPE last?

The drops should last approximately 5-6 weeks, if taken as directed.

Can I follow the program without using the drops?

No.  The success of the program is based on the healing properties of the SHAPE formula.

What if I skip a dose or forget to take the drops for a few days?

If you are traveling and forgot to pack your drops, continue eating on plan and resume taking drops as soon as possible.  Depending on how long you’ve been on the program, there should be ample reserve to sustain you.  Don’t panic if only one dose is missed. 

If releasing toxic weight is my priority, how much can I expect to shed?

There are many factors that contribute to your success; total health history, how well you adhere to the program, how inflamed you are.  Don’t compare yourself to anyone else.  There is no formula to guarantee how much or how long it will take to reach your goal.  There are no two journeys alike.

How long can I stay in Phase I?

It is best to stay in Phase I until you have reached your desired goal.  It is critical to work with your practitioner to transition into and complete Phase II, for long-term success.

What happens if I ‘stray’ and eat off-plan?

Have you determined your ‘why’? Without proper commitment and understanding your ‘why’ for choosing SHAPE, temptations will be harder to resist. Your greatest success comes from committing until you reach your goal.

Are there any negative side effects while taking SHAPE?

Some do experience short-term detox symptoms, such as:  headaches, fatigue, lethargy, irritability, mild rash, hunger and leg cramps and are typically self-limiting.  Should symptoms persist, contact your practitioner.

Can I take over-the-counter medications/vitamins/supplements while on SHAPE?

Yes.  Please make your practitioner aware of these when discussing your health history.

Can I continue taking my prescribed medications? 

ABSOLUTELY!  Your SHAPE practitioner must be made aware of these medications. It is not recommended you discontinue prescribed medications without discussing with your prescribing physician.

Will my prescribed medications interfere with the SHAPE drops?

No.  Please notify your prescribing physician of your decision to work with a SHAPE practitioner, as dosage adjustments may be necessary.

Are there long-term negative effects of taking SHAPE?

Will I feel like I’m starving when I’m doing Phase I fast-trac?

Your appetite should decrease while taking SHAPE, as we have added pokeweed (phytolacca Americana) root, known to suppress appetite and help with cravings.  If you feel like you are truly starving, immediately contact your practitioner.

I have no appetite when I’m taking the drops.  Do I need to eat the recommended portions if I am not hungry?

Yes.  Seeing, smelling and chewing food initiates vital digestive processes in the body.  Enzyme production, stomach function, liver, gallbladder and pancreas activities all require the intake of food.  Peristaltic action (the movement of food through the intestines) cannot occur without it.  Most importantly, you don’t want to send a message to the brain (hypothalamus) that it is starving.

Can I do SHAPE if I’m a vegetarian?

Yes.  However, your protein options are limited (eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt and tofu). The lack of variety could lead to burnout.  Many discover through their SHAPE experience, they feel better adding more animal/fish protein.  Choosing organic sources may ease your concerns.

Can I drink diet soda or other low-calorie, sugar free beverages?

No.  Diet or not, all soda and beverages labeled sugar-free, should be eliminated forever. Carbonated beverages acidify the body and leach minerals from bone.  The artificial colors and flavors add to this toxic overload.

Why do we recommend Sweetleaf Stevia?

As with everything, moderation is recommended. Glass droppers are approved, however, Sweet Drops are not as their main ingredient is vegetable glycerine. We have recently learned Sweetleaf has reformulated their Water Drops and their main ingredient will be vegetable glycerine as well. When they deplete their current stock, only the new will be available for purchase. SHAPE will reverse their approval of the Water Drops at that time.

Can I drink caffeine?

Yes, coffee and tea are both accepted.  However, caffeine affects everyone differently.  Some can drink four pots of coffee a day and not be affected, but others can drink a single cup and have unpleasant side effects.  Caffeine can cause the heart to race, disrupt the bowels, cause cystic breasts and interfere with sleep.  Moderation is key; you know your body best.  Keep in mind, caffeine can be dehydrating.

Can I drink decaffeinated coffee?

The chemical process that coffee goes through to become decaffeinated is typically more harmful than drinking the caffeine.  Water decaffeinated coffee tends to be less toxic.

Can I drink alcohol?

No.  During Phase I, alcohol is simply not allowed.  As far as liver detoxification is concerned, alcohol is its greatest enemy. During Phase II, very limited amounts of alcohol is allowed.  Hard liquor is never a good idea because it is so damaging to the liver.  Remember:  moderation in all things is best.

I have a history of thyroid disease and struggle with excess weight.  Will SHAPE help me?

Can I do SHAPE while on hormone replacement therapy?

I’m a cancer survivor, is it safe for me to do SHAPE?

Yes, however, if you are undergoing active treatment, it is not recommended you start SHAPE until you are released by your oncologist. SHAPE’s focus is on targeting inflammation, strengthening immune function and supports detoxification. Patients who have had a history of estrogen receptor positive cancers might consider taking a supplement that helps metabolize estrogen and/or supports the liver in its duty of eliminating toxic hormone levels.  Indole-3-carbinol (I3C), diindolylmethane (DIM), and milk thistle are great options.  Cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, etc.) are sources of I3C and DIM and should be eaten on a regular basis.

Can I continue using my personal hygiene products?

It is our clinical observation; shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, hairspray, mascara, pressed powder, blush and lipstick do not create an issue.  Oil-based lotions and foundations, especially those used for sun-tanning, do interfere with your success.  Your skin will absorb these oils and your body will burn them as energy, rather than burn stored fat, thus slowing your progress.

Can I continue using my essential oils?

They must be 100% pure and not mixed with any carrier oils.  The extent to which they are used (frequency, internally or topically), should be discussed with your practitioner.

I frequently get massages.  Can my massage therapist continue using their own products?

It is best to use 100% oil-free lotion.  Again, some may have no problem, while it could render others’ progress less successful.

Can I avoid sagging skin?

The elasticity of an individual’s skin is a function of connective tissue, including collagen and elastin fibers.  Whether or not an individual experiences stretch marks and/or sagging skin can vary, depending on elasticity. Clinically, we have observed most folks shedding between 25-50 pounds, do not experience skin sag.  For those who have struggled with obesity, gaining and losing weight repeatedly over time, there is a greater chance for this to occur. Incorporating moderate weight-resistant exercise is recommended and over time, will help to tone.  Please allow 2 years before considering plastic surgery.

If I’m restarting SHAPE, do I need to do the fat-loading days again?

Some may and some may not.  There are many factors to consider.  Have your inflammatory symptoms returned?  Have you gained back some or all of your weight?  Are you simply wanting to be pro-active and incorporate a detox and cleanse?  Please discuss these questions with your practitioner.

This can certainly happen.  The first question to ask yourself, are you veering from the program?  Start writing everything down and measuring food to help keep you accountable.  Often times, patients will think a little cheating here and there won’t hurt, but can be the cause for slower progress.  There will be days the scale won’t show a decrease, so don’t panic.  During this time, the body could be converting fat to lean body mass and body measurements decreasing.  If you stay true to the program, yet still challenged, consult with your practitioner to help uncover any potential biochemical imbalance.

Can I exercise while I am on Phase I?

Yes, but as we say in all things, moderation is key.  Your practitioner will adjust food intake and timing of nutrients, based on your workout regimen.
